Careers That Can Shape Lives For The Better!

Integrated Learning Strategies is excited to feature careers with children in this guest post. While many of the recommendations below are great for select children and parents, some accommodations or exceptions may be made for children with learning challenges and learning disabilities. Integrated Learning Strategies (ILS) is a learning and academic center. As a reminder, ILS is not a health care provider and none of our materials or services provide a diagnosis or treatment of a specific condition or learning challenge you may see in your child or student. If you seek a diagnosis or treatment for your child or student, please contact a trained professional who can provide an evaluation of the child.

childrens future

Today’s children are tomorrow’s workforce. Policemen, doctors, lawyers, and scientists. They’re the people that will follow in the footsteps of today’s workers, improving on what society has achieved so far and creating a better world for all. The old cliche ‘children are the future’ really is true, and so some of the most fulfilling careers out there involve shaping the lives of these young people in a positive way. Whether you’re early on in life planning your future career, or are hoping to make a change later down the line- here are a few ideas to consider.

Vestibulum quam nisi, pretium a nibh sit amet, consectetur hendrerit mi. Amet elit porta, et malesuada erat bibendum. Cras sed nunc massa. Tellus malesuada, malesuada iaculis eros dignissim.

Children’s Mental Health Worker

Mental health issues are something that are usually associated with adults, but children can suffer all kinds of cognitive and psychological problems. Whether it’s a result of trauma such as abuse and bullying, or brain chemical imbalances- mental health issues in children are now widely accepted. You could work as a mentor, helping a child with life skills out in the community. This could involve things like teaching them how to use public transport, paying for tickets and accompanying them to places of interest such as shops and cinemas. The end goal would be for them to learn how to do these things independently. If you wanted to work within a school setting, you consider becoming a school counselor. If you already have an undergraduate degree, you could do an online masters in education counseling which would give you the benefit of being able to study from home. You could work in child and adolescent services in a hospital or treatment center, this would be dealing with patients that had been admitted after showing worrying symptoms or attempting self-harm. While these kinds of roles would be incredibly challenging, you get to genuinely help young people during a tough time in their life and set them up for future success.

Teacher or Tutor

Working as an educator allows you to directly influence children’s lives for the better. We all remember that one incredible teacher from our youth, perhaps they saw something good in us or encouraged us to pursue our goals. Maybe they helped us in some other way, but had an impact on the course of our education and lives. You could be that person. If you want to become a teacher you will need an undergraduate degree, and then a year’s worth of training in a school. If you didn’t want to go down the formal route, you could become a tutor. If you’re qualified and knowledgeable in a certain subject, you could work privately and find clients online. This could be teaching a child one on one after school, helping with preparing for exams or improving school work.
